The noise reduction effect of the Road Noise Barrier should be determined according to the over-standard value of the road section where the noise-sensitive building is located, and the effect of the noise barrier should meet the design requirements for noise reduction. Road Noise Barrier acoustic materials should consider acoustic performance, mechanical performance, anti-corrosion performance, fire resistance and appearance, and its technical requirements should meet the requirements of JT/T646.4. Road Noise Barrier structure should consider the strength and rigidity of the sound barrier material itself, the strength and stability of the supporting structure, and the strength and durability of the sound barrier link system.

The structural strength, stiffness and stability of the Road Noise Barrier support structure and connection system shall meet the requirements of GB50009 and GB50017. If the sound barrier adopts a masonry structure, the strength should meet the requirements of GB50003. Sound barriers installed in areas with seismic intensity M to IX shall meet the requirements of GB50011, and the anti-corrosion performance of Road Noise Barrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T18229. For sound barriers with masonry structure, the strength of acoustic materials should meet the requirements of the lower limit of GB50003 materials. The anti-corrosion performance of sound barrier acoustic materials should meet the requirements of chapters 3, 4 and 5 in GB/T 18226-2015. The combustion performance level of sound barrier acoustic materials should meet the requirements of GB 8624 B, level and above.

When the continuous length of the sound barrier on the roadbed section is greater than 1000m, emergency access doors shall be provided. The setting of the access door shall not reduce the noise reduction effect of Road Noise Barrier. When the sound barrier installation encounters a level crossing that needs to be disconnected, a warning sign should be set no less than 200m from the driving direction of the sound barrier opening. The sound barriers and acoustic materials of the bridge section shall have anti-falling devices. The weighted sound insulation of non-transparent sound barrier acoustic materials should not be less than 26DB, and the weighted sound insulation of transparent acoustic materials should not be less than 20DB. Acoustic materials with sound absorption performance requirements should have a noise reduction coefficient not less than 0.60; acoustic barrier acoustic materials should not produce functional obstacles, residual deformation or damage, and their maximum elastic deflection should not exceed L/300 (L is the maximum free acoustic material Length, the same below), the residual deformation should not exceed L/600.

The impact resistance of Road Noise Barrier shall meet the following requirements after bearing the impact of 30J±1J energy:
- The damage is only limited to the surface part of the structure, and the internal structure does not cause damage or evaluation faults;
- The impact steel ball cannot penetrate the outer wall of the cavity member, but it is allowed to be cracked and the length is less than 50mm, and it will not be damaged;

- For brittle materials, crater-like local damage is allowed, but the crater depth should be less than 20mm. When the outer wall thickness is less than 20mm, the crater depth should be less than the outer wall thickness. Anti-corrosion performance, the surface of the acoustic barrier acoustic material should be flat, and there should be no defects such as peeling, scars, wrinkles, falling, bubbles, and uneven color. In addition to meeting the requirements of 4.1~4.5, it should also meet the other requirements of Table 1. The service life of sound barrier acoustic materials is 10 years.
